What Is Dementia Care?

Dementia care focuses on supporting individuals with memory loss, confusion, or other cognitive changes due to Alzheimer’s disease or related conditions. It aims to promote comfort and dignity, adapting daily routines and environments to reduce distress and help residents engage in meaningful activity. Dementia care includes everything from gentle personal assistance to activities that encourage social interaction or stimulate memory.

At its core, this type of care embraces a person-centred approach. Our staff are trained to understand the unique communication, emotional and practical needs of those with dementia while responding with patience and flexibility. Family involvement is always encouraged, ensuring a deeper understanding of each person’s story, habits, interests and preferences, which helps nurture genuine connection and continuity of care.
