Puppy Cuddles with A Very Special Visitor

Residents at Angusfield House Care Home in Aberdeen were delighted to welcome a very special visitor when our cook, Michelle, brought in her new puppy, Kaya. The moment she entered the building, Kaya's electric energy stole the show, and an abundance of smiles and laughter flooded the room. Gentle cuddles from the sweet puppy lifted everyone's spirits and she quickly became the star of the day.

One resident in particular, Alec, was absolutely besotted with the puppy and the calming effects of this loving pet were felt long after she left. Kaya's heart-warming visit brought so much joy to residents and staff, and we can't wait for her wagging-tail to return soon.

Spending time with animals has been shown to have many therapeutic effects on mental and physical health, particularly for people living in care homes. As well as the physical exercise walking and playing with a dog can offer, the psychological effects can be even greater. Pet therapy can improve self esteem and decrease stress levels, anxiety and depression. The emotional support animals can provide can also increase motivation for those in recovery, as well as offering an opportunity reminiscence which can improve wellbeing for people living with dementia.

There's always fun activities and events happening at Angusfield House Care Home in Aberdeen, and we'd love for you to get involved. To stay up to date with all the latest news, please follow us on social media or keep an eye on our website.
